Rail Yard at Night

Peace.
The beast that slumbers
On the other side of action; that
Threatens to give traction to
Thoughts without a voice. When all is
Quiet–
Silent–

What choice but to
Listen, to focus on the beat
Of wheels meeting track, of life
That’s doubled back and sprung
A tidy ambush. Taken by surprise,
Slightly-widened eyes blinded by the
Stillness of life beyond the sunset, where
Hustle muscles bustle into abject surrender and
The moon returns to sender all the
Noise
Of frantic living.

  1. I LOVE this. You are talented. You had me at

    “Peace.
    The beast that slumbers
On the other side of action…”

And the way you ended it was perfect. Such an excellent illustration of the “beyond” of our frantic lives.
